The M.O.E.–TEL, a group lodge

Canoe trips are safe, guided trips with trained personnel, leaving at 9am or 2pm. Our trip is a half day on the Cartecay River (Class I, II or III). Our premier trip incorporates Laurel-covered banks with exciting rapids for a fun trip for all age and skill levels in a variety of boats. We are outfitted for canoe, duckie and kayak rentals and sales. We also provide a shuttle service.

Camping and picnic facilities are available at our Outdoor Center. The M.O.E.-tel, a bunk bed type hostel, sleeps up to 18 people and is available for groups (sleeping and bath linens provided). Business meetings or group trips are set up to fit your needs at a price you can’t beat!

Also available is all-terrain bike trail information and a variety of trips. Enjoy casual back trail riding or tough mountain terrain.

Hike, backpack or camp in a variety of trails located in Gilmer County. See the brass plaque imbedded in rock overlook designating the beginning of the Appalachian Trail, travel on the Benton MacKaye Trail, see a state record tree or travel the Cohutta Wilderness.

DIRECTIONS FROM ATLANTA:

Take I-575 North till it turns into Highway 515.  Continue to Highway 52 East (third E. Ellijay light).  Go East on Highway 52 approximately 4.5 miles and turn right on Lower Cartecay Road. 
Pass Marshall Spur, and turn right on Adventure Trail.  Look for signs to MOE.

 

DIRECTIONS FROM CHATTANOOGA:

Take I-75 South to 76 0 Rocky Face Exit.  Exit left and go to Highway 52 E. to Ellijay.  5 miles to Lower Cartecay Road. 
Pass Marshall Spur, and turn right on Adventure Trail.  Look for signs to MOE.
